Summer Vacation...check!

Our  2012 summer vacation cottage.

It's in Lexington, Michigan a few blocks from Lake Huron; in the thumb area. It took me days and hours to find a cottage that would work for our extended family: one that was clean enough, budget friendly, available the week we wanted and one that would allow Ruby Roo to join us. She's allowed at the beach before 8:30 am or after 8:00pm... ugh. So, just in time to get all wet and sandy for bedtime. Guess we'll be visiting the beach early in the morning with Ruby.

We usually rent a cottage on the lake, but this will do... it's small but clean and will sleep eight. We are going on the first year anniversary of my mom's passing, so we'll all be together that week. It's been a hard year for us and we are really looking forward to spending a whole week together.  Hanging out at the beach, visiting museums, lighthouses, wineries, quaint towns along the shore line. There is Old Western Town to visit; with a saloon and the works.  There is an historical museum/house that's supposedly haunted and a historical village nearby.  Lots of things we enjoy doing.  Oh yes, there is even an old drive-in movie theater.

We'll bring along our beach kite, board games, a few movies and the metal detector for fun.
This week also happens to be the Antique/yard sale Trail weekend. 200 miles of sales up and down the shore line of the thumb area..."squeal!" Just us girls: (Autumn, My sister Deb and myself)... are spending that Friday hitting the road to sale heaven!  The boys can do something better suited for them.
Deb is also sweet enough to watch Noah for one of the days so Brad and I can spend the day together alone.

This little house is just as cute as a button -- I think your search paid off! Sounds like a perfect way to spend the week, not too much of any one thing. I hope you feel your mom there in spirit. Something tells me she'll be right with you. ((hugs))
